HE HAS COME!

For centuries, all God’s people had been waiting on Messiah.  Every daughter dreamed she would be the one to give birth to Israel’s savior.  In all their hardships, their cry would be for Him to come.  To come quickly.

Standing in fields, sweat on their brows, working on crops they would only taste a small portion of, they cried out for Him to come.

In Egypt, mothers having babies torn from their arms would cry out for Messiah to come.

As the Romans took their children to be slaves, they would plead for now to be the time to come.  Quickly!

Way back in Zachariah 9:9, we read how they cried prophetically, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!  Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!  Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.”  (NKJV)

Finally, their cries were answered in Jesus’ riding triumphantly into Jerusalem.  We read in Matthew 21:9 of God’s chosen people shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David!  ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’  Hosanna in the highest.”

As we gather for Palm Sunday, we can and should have that same spirit of joy and anticipation – He is coming.  Again.  The winds of revival are once again blowing in our land.  The King is coming.  This time riding on a white horse with the hosts of heaven.  Matthew 24:27 tells us, “For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

Did you ever go to a football game and watch the excitement as the players burst through the paper to run onto the field?

Have you ever seen the glitz and glamour of a red carpet where famous actors and actresses in designer gowns strut their stuff out of limos?

Well, that’s nothing compared to what we have waiting for us.  At any time now!  So prepare yourself with great expectation and joy.  The people there in Jerusalem on the very first Palm Sunday had heard of His sermons, His miracles, His raising of the dead.  They were full of awe and threw down their cloaks for the donkey carrying Him to walk across.  They knew at long last the much hoped for Messiah had arrived to His people.

I am hoping our Alive Group, our church, as well as our nation will again experience the presence of the Lord with us this Palm Sunday in a new and fresh way.  May you allow your spirit to know He is here.  Hosanna in the highest!
